Boat ride
Boat ride on the lake with traditional wooden boats
Start your exploration of Lake Kerkini with a boat ride on a traditional wooden boat. An experienced boatman will be there to take you on a journey and guide you through the lush forest, the delta of the Struma River, and the breeding grounds of pelicans. You will see the magnificent mountain slopes, bird nests, and the small island where the pelicans reside.
Immerse yourself in the magic of Kerkini and enjoy the experience with full equipment including life jackets and all necessary safety measures. The activity lasts approximately 1 to 5 hours, offering a unique opportunity to discover the secrets of Kerkini and admire the rich flora and fauna scattered in the lake waters. Wine Boat Tour
Kerkini Lake Wine Boat Tour - Wine Tasting paired with local deli products
Welcome to this amazing experience touring Kerkini Lake on a boat ride while enjoying a wine tasting with local products! If you have never experienced the magic of gastronomy, wine surprises, and boating on a majestic lake like Lake Kerkini, then you are in the right place.
Our idea was born out of the need to combine our local wines with the magic of Kerkini Lake. Wine, bird watching while strolling by the lake, and wine tasting on board, accompanied by cheese and cold cuts platters are some of the elements included in our unique nature outing.
Together with winemaker Konstantina Goula from the organic winery “Domaine Apostolis ” in Ambeloi, Serres and Nikos Gallios owner of Limneo Guesthouses, you will experience a unique experience in the wetland of Kerkini Lake.
Join us and discover the beauty of the area, learn about the organic techniques applied to the vineyards, and enjoy the taste of local products.
The activity lasts about 2 hours and includes a boat ride with a guide, wine tasting of three organic wines, a professional sommelier, and a platter of cheeses and cold cuts from the region.

Cycling
Discover the unique experience of cycling through the picturesque landscapes of our region. Visit the buffalo farms, the oak forest, the E4 path, the mountains of the area, and Kerkini Lake on accessible routes of 5 – 10 – 15 – 20 km. The duration of the activity can vary from 1 hour to approximately 8 hours, depending on your preference.
Upon request, the excursion includes an experienced guide and full equipment. We also offer hot beverages (tea and coffee), water, and sandwiches.
Come and live a unique adventure with our bicycles and create unforgettable memories.
Hiking
Discover the Hiking Trails of Kerkini Lake National Park through adventures suitable for all ages and great for groups, even for children. Explore the pristine nature of the park and follow recommended routes such as the Waterfall of hot springs in the area of Black Rock of Sidirokastro, the Ascent to the village of Ano Poroia following the butterfly path, and the eastern ridge. Enjoy hikes near the lake with routes ranging from easy to moderate and difficult, accompanied by mountain guides.
Don’t forget the necessary equipment such as hiking boots, waterproof clothing and a water bottle, and prepare for an exceptional experience of discovery and nature. The duration of the activity ranges from 1 to 5 hours approximately, depending on the chosen route.
Bird watching
Bird watching at Kerkini Lake Natural Habitat
It is an experience that you cannot have in many places in Greece. For this reason, it is worth spending a few hours observing the birds around the lake. The best spots with the most variety of birds are the eastern shore, the lakeside forest, and the mouth of the Strymonas River.
April, May, September, October, months when birds migrate, December, January, February, winter months, are ideal times to observe Herons, Egrets, Cormorants, Avocets, Spoonbills, Flamingos, Geese, Pelicans, Ducks, Grebes, Gulls, Terns, Night Herons, and many other bird species.
If you don’t have the equipment (binoculars or telescope), we can lend you and organize the birdwatching activity for you. Discover the beauty and grandeur of the Lake in combination with a boat ride on its calm waters.
Archery
Experience a unique archery experience with your group in a safe and group activity that will excite you and lift your spirits. You can enjoy archery at the “Peuka” area in Lithotopos, next to the lake or at the buffalo farm in Chrysochorafa (eastern slopes), or at any other location you choose with your group.
The experience includes instructors, full equipment (bows, targets, protective gear, etc.) and upon request hot drinks (tea & coffee), water and sandwiches. The activity lasts approximately 1-2 hours.
Wildlife Photography
Kerkini Lake is a paradise for photographers, with its diverse habitats and easy accessibility providing endless opportunities for capturing stunning images. As the year begins, woodpeckers such as Black, Syrian, Middle-Spotted, and Grey-Headed species can be easily spotted, while Dalmatian Pelicans show off their vibrant red beaks and unique hairstyles, making for extraordinary photography subjects from Nikos’ boat. In April and May, White Pelicans grace the lake, along with Bee-eaters, shrikes, Golden Orioles, and even the chance to photograph Red-footed Falcons on their passage.
Late May and June offer the opportunity to capture shots of Little Bitterns hunting for tadpoles, as well as sightings of Lesser Spotted, Golden, Booted, and Short-toed Eagles, Black Kites, and Levant Sparrowhawks. The diverse habitats around Kerkini Lake also provide a wealth of photo opportunities, from lake and woodland birds to high mountain species like Water Pipits, Alpine Choughs, Alpine Accentors, Rock Thrushes, and Horned Larks. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced photographer, Kerkini Lake is a must-visit destination for creating a diverse and stunning portfolio of bird photography.
Agrotourism Activities
As an ecotourism accommodation, we offer a variety of activities that either include cooking and product preparation lessons or visits to production units with wine tasting, honey/cheese and buffalo products.
The agritourism experience offers the visitor the opportunity to explore rural areas & activities, local products, traditional cuisine and the daily life of the residents, the cultural heritage of each region, with respect for the environment and tradition, and we believe that only in this way can we have a complete experience as travellers.
Visit to local wineries
In the area, one can find many wineries with a tradition in the art of wine production. We can organize a small trip into the world of wine, with visits and tastings. We all need to dream, and this is what tasting is, a sensory journey that brings back memories of beautiful moments we shared.
